The very first edition of the Lasers in Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Head & Neck Surgery inaugurated the SFITS in September 2017. Since then, two other editions were organized in 2019 and 2024.

In a few words…

Lasers in ORL-HNS have a longstanding tradition starting with CO2 laryngeal microsurgery in the 1960’s. In the following decades lasers delivered through fibers were developed: Neodinuim-YAG, Erbium-YAG, Thulium, and CO2. Fiber-based laser extended surgical applications beyond the larynx to the trachea, esophagus, pharynx, nose, and ears.

This course offers theoretic and hands-on session, as well as networking opportunities. It fulfills the requirements for accreditation of the Swiss Society of ORL-HNS.

The 2024 edition

The program was intense and rich, with presentations in the morning on lasers used nowadays by all ORL-HNS specialties, and hands-on workshops in afternoon. Over 20 participants had the opportunity to manipulate and test different lasers but also to exchange with experts in the field.
