The SFITS, accredited GESEA Training Center

In 2024, the SFITS was accredited by the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgical Education and Assessment (GESEA), as a training center.

GESEA is a structured educational program for Gynaecological Endoscopy, that trains and certifies knowledge and practical skills prior to surgical competence. It is the official diploma program of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE).

As of 2026, 6 practical sessions will be hosted annually, combining GESEA modules with specific laparoscopic hands-on on organic material. Each course will include :

  • LASTT module: Laparoscopic Skills Training and Testing, is designed to measure 3 practical laparoscopic psychomotor skills: the ability of the person to navigate the camera, to handle the 3O’-degree optic and to identify required targets.
  • SUTT module: Suturing and Knot Tying Training and Testing, consists of a series of tests on stitching and knotting to train and test the quality level of needle handling, stitching, tissue approximation and knoting.
  • HYSTT module: Hysteroscopic Skills Training and Testing, is designed for training and testing of the hysteroscopic psychomotor skills: the ability of a person to navigate the camera, to handle the 30′ optic and the ability to handle hysteroscopic tools.

We are also a “GESEA Diploma Centre”

In May 2026, we successfully met the established GESEA criteria and we officially are an Accredited GESEA Diploma Centre.

This new title means that we are now allowed to provide training, administer exams and validate practical skills for the GESEA program.

Thank you

We would like to give our warmest thank you to the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), to Prof. Patrick Petignat and Dr. Jean Dubuisson with whom we worked hand-in-hand to get through the accreditation process. Thanks to this new accreditation, the SFITS strives to be at the forefront of medical training and technological advancement.
